Which campuses do the district's maps return here, and how was that read?
The three are Briargrove Elementary at the elementary level, Tanglewood Middle School at the middle, and Wisdom High School after that, and they come off published maps rather than out of a conversation. Houston ISD serves a zone map for each level as its own public map service, one for elementary zones, one for middle school zones and one for high school zones, and each of the three carries the 2026-2027 school year in its name.
Reading one address off them takes two steps. The street address went to the Census Bureau's address service on 18 September 2026, which returned a single match, and the coordinates that came back were put to each of the three map services in turn with one question: which polygon contains this point. Each service answered with exactly one record. The match itself is worth naming precisely, because the service tied the address to a segment of Uptown Park Boulevard whose address range it prints as 1000 to 1178, so the coordinates stand on the block rather than on a survey of this tower.
A fourth map says whether the three agree. Its feeder pattern is a service of its own, and asked at the same coordinates it returned one record carrying the chain in a single field, "Briargrove ES ➔ Tanglewood MS ➔ Wisdom HS", with the campus codes 116, 68 and 9 beside it. Two services the district maintains separately name the same three campuses.
One of those three names already does another job on this site. Who publishes the two figures beside each campus, and what is each one a reading of?
Two publishers put a figure beside each campus here, and they are not reading the same thing. The Texas Education Agency sets one overall letter, A to F, on a district and on each campus it rates. The agency's own page about the method, read on 18 September 2026, rests those letters on three domains it names as Student Achievement, School Progress and Closing the Gaps, and sets out in two sentences what one campus's letter is measuring.
Every letter in the table comes out of one file. Houston ISD's own district row in the agency's 2026 statewide multi-year ratings spreadsheet reads B, and the three campus rows come out of the same sheet. Five columns were taken from any row and no more: campus number, campus name, school type, grades served and the overall letter. What those rows also hold, and what this site prints nowhere, is the score under each letter, the distinction designations and the columns describing enrolment.
The other figure is a number out of 10 that GreatSchools publishes, one profile to a campus. The profile for Briargrove Elementary and the one it publishes for Tanglewood Middle were both read on 18 September 2026 in copies filed that day, along with the profile behind the high school row, and all three print the same date of their own, 29 May 2026. The Houston Properties Team holds that publisher's written permission to print the figure. How the number is arrived at was not read for this page, so what stands here is that body's own figure on the date its profile carries.
One of those three profiles opens under a name the district retired. Houston ISD calls the campus Wisdom High School on its own high school map and keeps Lee HS on the record as its former name, and the state writes WISDOM H S in the 2026 ratings file and again in its own school directory. GreatSchools has not followed: its profile for that campus is headed Lee High School and its web address says the same, so the link above opens on the old name. The figure under that heading is this campus's.
A third body publishes names rather than figures, and none of these three is on its lists. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program's cumulative list of schools recognized from 1982 through 2019 carries no Briargrove, no Tanglewood and no Wisdom under Houston, and the cohort lists that follow it, out to its 2024 awardees, carry none either. Both were read in the Internet Archive's copies on 18 September 2026, the program's own host having refused this reader.

When do the state's 2026 letters become final?
On 11 December 2026. The timeline the agency published for 2026 appeals runs from a preliminary release on 12 August 2026, through a thirty-day window that shut at 5pm on 11 September 2026, past decision letters to the districts that filed one by that deadline, to a final release on 11 December 2026 carrying the outcome of every appeal.
One condition outlives that date, and the agency's schedule states it in a line of its own under the final release.
So each letter above is what the agency had published on a date, and the year beside it is part of the fact. Anybody quoting one after 11 December 2026 is quoting the preliminary figure unless they went back to the agency's own file for the final one.
Ratings and year counts are subject to change due to the results of an audit, compliance review, or investigation.
Why do two state files print a different earliest grade for Briargrove Elementary?
Nothing read for this page says why, so both fields are printed here rather than one of them. The agency's 2026 ratings file records Briargrove Elementary as serving grades PK through 05. The same agency's school directory records the same campus number as active with a grade range of EE-05, and Houston ISD's own zone record agrees with the directory, listing EE first both in the grades it gives the campus and in the grades it zones to it.
The difference is a single code, EE, which sits on the district's record and in the state directory and not in the ratings file's grade range. Nothing read for this page expands that code, so nothing here expands it either. Is a zone the only way into these three campuses?
